Ryan Van Meter reads an essay, "Lake Effect," and Vershawn Ashanti Young performs a passage from his newly published book, Your Average Nigga: Language, Literacy and the Rhetoric of Blackness in this audio recording of the March 30 reading at Prairie Lights Books. Van Meter is currently a student in the Nonfiction Writing Program; Young is an assistant professor in the UI Department of Rhetoric.
