Dean Young

Dean Young was born in Columbia, Pennsylvania in 1955. He currently teaches as a member of the permanent faculty of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, as well as teaching in the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers. In the past, he has been awarded the Colorado Prize for Poetry for Strike Anywhere, has received a Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University, and has been awarded fellowships by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation (2002) as well as from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center.

His books and collections include Design with X (1988), Beloved Infidel (1992), Strike Anywhere (1995), First Course in Turbulence (1999), Skid (2002), Elegy on Toy Piano (2005), and his latest work Embryoyo (2007).
