Western European Literature of the 1960s and the 1970s
Nikos Phōkas begins the discussion on Western European literature by talking about contemporary Greek literature since the end of World War II. Phōkas tells about the trends and influences of Greek writers from this time to the present (early 1980s). Then he reads two poems he feels represents the two extremes of Greek writing. Olli Jalonen speaks about the different aspects of Finnish and Swedish writing and also gives a political history of Finland and its implicatiosn on its writers. Marc Van Alstein discusses the difference between being Dutch and Flemish and tells about the region of Flanders. Gerrit Bussink speaks out the difference between publication practices within European countries. The panel then takes questions from the audience.
