Muhammad Mutawallī and Aura María Vidales Interview

The authors discuss the pros and cons of writing poetry in their native or secondary languages. Mutawallī, who writes in both Arabic and English, posits that while Arabic isn’t as precise as English, Arabic is an especially poetic language because of its musicality. Mutawallī reads a poem in Arabic, and Vidales reads sever poems in Spanish and English. Vidales discusses the children’s book she is working on and talks about why she is a poet and not a fiction writer.  The authors share what difficulties they have encountered in the process of publishing in their respective countries.
