Mapping Racial Boundaries in Antebellum St. Louis: A slideshow by Barbara Mooney
Barbara Mooney is an Assistant Professor of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. She presents a slideshow about her attempts to use visual materials to reconstruct the African American architectural landscape of St. Louis that existed before the Civil War. She uses portraits, paintings, and photographs to show the architectural history of residential and commercial segregation that existed in St. Louis during the 19th and 20th centuries. The slideshow lasts about 45 minutes, followed by questions from the audience.
