The Virtual Writing University Archive is a collection of recordings of literary readings, panel discussions, and lectures around The University of Iowa and Iowa City. You may search or browse these recordings to find those you want to hear. The Writing University Archive is a project of the School of Library and Information Science in collaboration with the writing community at Iowa.

We are currently in the process of transferring the contents of the archive into this interface. more

IWP/Writers’ Workshop Joint Reading

Sandra Barkan hosts the reading and introduces Rowena Torrevillas, who in turn introduces each of the readers. Mitch Cohen and Darrach Dolan, both Writers’ Workshop students, each read a short story. Ramona Ciupag, a writer in residence at the IWP, reads a selection of her poems. Luljeta Lleshanaku, another writer in residence at the IWP, reads one of her poems in Albanian and then a translator, Professor Thomas, reads the rest of her poems in English. The tape ends while the translator is still reading.
