Peter Nazareth interviews Bernardo Teixeira Carvalho. Carvalho talks about his work and specifically the story he wrote about an old retired policeman who has to flee the country where he was born in order to write freely. Carvalho says he is not interested in race, gender, or multiculturalism. He thinks it is a trap and a pity that instead of talking about literature, people focus only on gender and race. He thinks it is hard to find original criticism in literature these days, both in universities and in the popular media. Carvalho says that his writing is complex and yet simple too. He likes literature which tries to create new possibilities, new worlds, and new points of view.
