Ayeta Anne Wangusa Interview
The author discusses her legacy as the daughter of a famous Ugandan writer, Timothy Wangusa. She discusses the themes in her writing, primarily those deriving from her life as a Ugandan woman. She reads from her book Memoirs of a Mother. She discusses the current state of women in Africa, forging lives and raising children by themselves, and the ways that tribal culture in Uganda shapes the lives of women. She explores the ability of fiction to explore taboos in cultures. She also describes her difficulties in finding a publisher for her work in Uganda and how she finally was able to get her work in print through a collective endeavor with a group of women writers called Femwrite.
