| Learn about the inner workings of the UI Libraries Conservation Lab by watching a conservator stitch a book, clean a basket and wash a sound recording on disc. Experience the patience and skill required to be a conservator by cleaning a document and stitching a pamphlet.
Instructor: This session will be facilitated by several staff members of the Conservation Lab, with coordination by Nancy E. Kraft, the Head of Preservation at the University of Iowa Libraries where she is responsible for directing the preservation and conservation of the library collections. Nancy has for many years advocated for the preservation and proper management of Iowa’s cultural treasures. She is a leader in the Iowa Conservation and Preservation Consortium and has been personally involved in the development of a successful statewide preservation training program through the Consortium. | |
